About Me
I seek to develop designs that utilise non-traditional media to create costumes that progress beyond aesthetic and unearth the intricacies of a character’s psychology. Through painting, drawing, and sculpting, I explore characters with emotional depth and complex narratives, moving beyond textiles to create costumes with unexpected materials. I am a Master’s student at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, originally from the US and currently working in Cardiff. My undergraduate degree was in theatre design, with a secondary focus in visual arts; while obtaining my degree, I worked as a costume assistant for four years learning practical on the job skills such as costume making and alteration, wardrobe management, dressing, budgeting, and organization. I also had the opportunity to design several shows at university, which allowed me to take on a leadership position and learn not only the research and artistic skills needed for design, but also the skills needed to manage the day to day operations of a functional costume shop.
